Southeast Minnesota AHEC
 Currently in development, the Southeast MN AHEC is the newest region in the MN AHEC Network. The region is hos ted by the University of Minnesota Rochester. Southeast MN AHEC is engaged in community board development and planning for programs to promote primary care health care workforce development to meet challenges unique to the 16 county region. Region The Southeast MN AHEC region is dotted with soaring, wooded bluffs, serene lakes, and one of the most beautiful stretches of the Mississippi River. The region also boasts rich agricultural land and fast-growing communities. Major employers in the area are predominately engaged in healthcare and social assistance with 25% of the private sector jobs, and manufacturing, with 21% of the region’s private sector jobs. Rochester, in Olmstead County, is the third largest city in Minnesota and is home to M ayo Clinic. The Southern Minnesota AHEC region includes the counties of Blue Earth, Dodge, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, LeSueur, Mower, Nicollet, Olmstead, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca, and Winona.
