Health Professionals

Strengthen your practice in a rural community with Minnesota AHEC. We support community-based health professionals with continuing education opportunities, resources, and connections to health professions students.

Working with students

Access to health professions students is one of the greatest resources available to community-based health professionals. Students are eager to learn from community-based health professionals and come away with a greater understanding of what it means to practice in a rural community. The Minnesota AHEC Program Office can help you identify your student needs and put you in touch with the Experiential Education Coordinators who can help place a student in your community.

Working interprofessionally

Minnesota AHEC supports interprofessional education sites statewide, giving community-based health professionals and health professions students opportunities to implement interprofessional educational practices.

Preceptor development

Minnesota AHEC, along with the University of Minnesota, will help you access the resources and training necessary to lead successful clinical rotations and community service projects by health profession students in your community.

If you are interested in becoming a preceptor, we can help you take that first step. Contact your region’s local AHEC office to discuss your student and health care needs. (For contact information, click on your home region on the map.) We can then match up your needs with available health professions students.

Select your home region.

Access to training and continuing education opportunities

Minnesota AHEC can help identify, provide, and develop continuing education opportunities for community-based health professionals. We are committed to helping you access up-to-date, evidence-based information through professional meetings, conferences, and locally designed trainings.

Regional access and additional resources

Minnesota AHEC is committed to providing you with the resources you need to maintain a vital practice in your community. Click on your home region on the map at right to find out about specific opportunities available to you.
