Health Professionals
Northeast Minnesota AHEC supports community-based health professionals in our region with these exciting and informative opportunities.
Preceptor development
The Northeast Minnesota AHEC supports community-based faculty and health professionals in northeastern Minnesota in playing an important role in the education of health professions students. Northeast Minnesota AHEC can connect you to health sciences programs and health professions students you could support at your clinic site.
A Precepting Guide is a guidebook provided by the National Health Service Corps that outlines the roles and responsibilities for health professions preceptors, students, and faculty in developing, conducting and evaluating a clinical experience in a community setting. (Not in case study format.)
Interprofessional activities
Northeast Minnesota AHEC supports three interprofessional community health projects in the region funded by Minnesota Education Research Costs (MERC). These MERC projects build interprofessional education teams of health professionals, health professions students, and community members to address a community-identified health issue. MERC community projects currently exist in Hibbing - Diabetes, Moutain Iron - Obesity, and Moose Lake - Geriatrics.
Health professionals can also take part in interprofessional workshops offered by Minnesota AHEC covering such topics as obesity and battling methamphetamine abuse.
